Tan Wanzhong, male, Han nationality, professor, born in October 1955, member of CPC, graduated from Southwest Agricultural University with a bachelor's degree in Plant Protection, Class of '77, enrolled in the Department of Agricultural Botany, the University of Wales, the UK in 1984 for a master's degree in Plant Pathology, transferred to Ph.D. in 1986, returned to China after receiving his Ph.D. in 1989 and continued to work at Southwest Agricultural University. He was promoted to full professor at Southwest Agricultural University in 1995 and served as deputy's head and head of the Department of Plant Protection. Then he was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Horticultural Research, BC, Canada, to conduct collaborative research on "Invasive alien organisms and their monitoring and control" until now. He has led more than 30 international, national, provincial, and ministerial research projects, authored 6 monographs published by Science Press, and published more than 200 academic papers in Chinese and English, and received 5 national awards for "Outstanding Contribution to Returned Overseas Students" and 5 provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological achievements. He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses for a long time and has taught agricultural plant pathology, plant disease epidemiology, invasion biology, microbiology, forest protection, biosecurity, molecular plant pathology, and English for agronomy many times. He has edited (or co-edited) 8 textbooks in colleges and universities and used them widely. He has served as head of national and provincial societies, government science and technology advisor, visiting professor or researcher, fund and project reviewer, and participated in science and technology promotion and science and technology poverty alleviation projects in book provinces and districts.
